This year may be the biggest yet in terms of your dollars’ impact on arts in Greencastle community schools. The Fund has been very fortunate to partner with engaged, passionate art and music teachers since its beginnings. These teachers maximize Huber Fund donations to improve the education experience of their students.

In 2023, students were able to benefit from a number of Fund-supported initiatives:

  • Greencastle High School choir members in Ross Hanson’s classes received new uniforms to wear for performances.
  • Carrie Hamilton’s fifth grade music class at Tzouanakis Intermediate School gets to play a new xylophone bass bar F as well as an extra partner set of players on a new bass xylophone.
  • Students in the Greencastle High School photography class taught by Dessa Frank can now set up photo shoots with a new backdrop and lighting plus save and transfer digital photos with new USB card readers.
  • GHS art students can also utilize a new pottery wheel, still life drawing props, cordless hot glue guns, and charcoal and graphite powders in Ms. Frank’s classes.
  • Annette Munoz-Thede, middle and high school band director, will be using this year’s donation to upgrade the bands’ percussion line of instruments. The donation will support the purchase of three marching snare drums, five marching bass drums, and a marching quad.

We look forward to more initiatives in 2024 and welcome new Greencastle Middle School art teacher Evie Ogborn for the 2023/24 school year. Ms. Ogborn plans to purchase tabletop easels and new canvases for painting projects in the upcoming year. Vocal music teacher Mr. Hanson was gifted a baby grand piano for use in his classes in 2023. Support from the Fund could help with the cost of keeping it in tune.

The Huber Arts Fund wouldn’t be possible without donors like you! We’re excited to provide annual support for current art and music classes and your gifts continue to contribute to our long-term goal of endowing two teaching positions in the Greencastle school system. We greatly thank you for your generous support of art and music education in Greencastle, Indiana.
